Mounted surveillance cameras are a staple in most security systems. You get a great vantage point, they are often difficult to reach by passersby, and they can be used for a range of purposes. While these tools are an excellent choice for most agencies, they used to be limited in location, mobility, and function—until now. J & M Security Solutions introduces the next stage in mounted surveillance technology—the NOMAD Mobile Camera.
The Previous Mounted Camera Types
Prior to the NOMAD, there were 2 main types of mounted surveillance cameras: building and street. Both camera types have their own functions and limitations.
Building-mounted cameras are used for monitoring the immediate area around an office or facility. They are wired and hard-mounted to the wall, which effectively keeps them permanently fixated upon installation. Unfortunately, these cameras don’t offer much in terms of placement and functionality, so they are extremely limited in purpose.
Similar to building-mounted cameras, these are generally permanent as they require money and a lot of time to install. While they provide situational awareness in areas beyond the perimeter of a building, the poles they are mounted to often require construction and cooperation from multiple agencies. In addition, street-mounted cameras rely on a dedicated point-to-point wireless network. While this offers some flexibility on where you can place the camera, you still have to be able to connect to an access point, which is where these cameras are especially limited.
The Next Stage in Mounted Surveillance
The NOMAD Mobile Camera bridges the gaps between its predecessors. It uses a modular enclosure to house all of the necessary camera components and offers a solution that makes it a unique all-in-one solution. In addition, the NOMAD is compatible with any camera type and can be relocated and installed in moments.
NOMAD: Compatible with Any Camera Type
The NOMAD was designed to adapt to any client’s needs, no matter what they may be. One way we did this is by ensuring that any camera type can be fitted into the NOMAD’s shell. Some examples include license plate recognition, pan-tilt-zoom, 360°, and much more! The enclosures can also be modified to hide the camera for covert missions.
NOMAD: Relocated and Installed in Moments
One of the most important ways the NOMAD differentiates from its predecessors is that can truly be relocated and installed anywhere. Because all of the components are stored inside the enclosure, it only requires two steps to install: strap/mount it to a surface and plug it in. Wireless and cellular capabilities give it free range, it can use either an internal or external server to store data, and it can use a wide range of brackets to mount it to any infrastructure.
The NOMAD also separates itself from its predecessors by having solar-powered capabilities! It does not need to rely on grid power, especially when it is not available.
Regain Control of Your Surveillance
It’s frustrating when your surveillance operations are restricted by the camera’s limitations, but they don’t have to be. The NOMAD Mobile Camera is the next stage in mounted surveillance technology, allowing agencies to monitor when and where they need situational awareness the most.
